Superior is located 6 miles southeast of Boulder. It was founded in 1896 and incorporated on June 10, 1904. Superior was a coal mining town named “Superior” because of the “Superior” quality of the coal found in the area. It is a wonderful town to call home, and I moved to Superior in 2002.
Superior remained a very small town until 2001, when it was named the 3rd fastest-growing town in America. It grew by 3000%. Now Superior has close to 4500 homes, 27 miles of trails, 19 parks, and 594 acres of green space and open space. That totals almost 23% of the land. Superior also has some of the best schools in Boulder County and in Colorado.
Superior Is a Very Active Community with several events to choose from. The city publishes a quarterly newsletter publicizing activities like basketball clinics, karate for kids, gold clinics, and boot camps. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the City Hosts Several Community Events:
Exciting new developments are happening, too. Superior is developing a town center anchored by the Boulder Valley Ice and Indoor Sports Center. The center will house ice and hockey rinks, indoor soccer fields, basketball, volleyball, and sports fitness and training. The town center will also include restaurants, offices, retail, two hotels, a medical complex, and approximately 1400 homes.
